| Memory Requirements
A minimum
of 96 MB of CPU memory is required to run the software.
Note that the OS and LineTest use 43 MB in total, so on a platform
with 128 MB of RAM, the remaining 85 MB will enable LineTest to
load up to 12,000 frames for a total duration of about 8 minutes
of animation.
The values above refer to a scene rendered using two greytones with
dither, Pal (analogue) resolution (768 pixels X 576 lines) and to
a drawing of medium complexity whose size in Kilobytes might be
slightly different (higher or lower) according to the drawing itself.
The
formula to compute the maximum length of the animation you can load
in memory is the following:
- minutes
of animation = 0.66 * (MB of RAM -30)/(size in Kbytes of a single
image)
Memory
requirements for a single image composed using one level of medium
complexity:
- 2
Greytones (with dither): 7 Kbytes
- 4
Greytones: 10 Kbytes
- 16
Greytones: 16.5 Kbytes
Memory
requirements for a single image composed using two levels of medium
complexity:
- 2
Greytones (with dither): 11 Kbytes
- 4
Greytones: 16 Kbytes
- 16
Greytones: 28 Kbytes
Memory
requirements for a single image composed using two levels of medium
complexity and a background image (a full color picture with plentyof
details)
- 2
Greytones (with dither): 40 Kbytes
- 4
Greytones: 60 Kbytes
- 16
Greytones: 100 Kbytes
